ABOUT YOUR TEACHER

Hi, I’m L.L.

I’m an award-winning screenwriter and Pushcart-nominated author, author of two memoirs and historical fiction series The Queenpin Chronicles.

Before I published any books, I ran international marketing efforts for various companies, institutions and organizations. Then my life took a U-turn. I’d always been into fitness—my parents owned a gym—but in 2006 I took a deep dive, moving to India to study yoga and meditation.

That quest propelled me to do for my career what I’d long desired — I moved to New York City and launched my career as a writer. I started getting published in high profile outlets like The Washington PostBudget Travel, and Salon among numerous others.

In New York, I also joined up with the storytelling community, found a tribe, and unlocked my deeper story. I learned what propels a story forward (character emotions), and what kills even the best story (lack of clarity).

As a result I wrote what would become American Lady Creature: My Change in the Middle East, dubbed by NPR as “like Eat, Pray, Love, but funny,” included among Bustle’s “11 Books to Battle the Blues,” and a Goodreads “Funniest Books for Women” selection. My follow-up memoir, Blissful Thinking, was a finalist in the Foreword Indies 2023 Humor category, and a Pushcart nominee. But it wasn’t until I studied screenwriting that I felt ready to return to my first love — fiction.

A historical fiction series, several plays and two award-winning short films later, I have learned a lot. I’m ready to share that knowledge with you if you’re ready to propel and advance your author career.

Let’s do it. Let’s fall in love with your story.
